Should I follow the 3 to 7 or 5 to 11 pathway?
We tailor our training programmes to meet your needs. Therefore, you can opt to specialise in the 3 to 7 age range (Early Years and Key Stage 1) or the 5 to 11 age range (Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2). This is about your personal preference and your choice will not affect whether we offer you a training place or not. We can tell you more during our free local briefing events.
Whichever you opt for, it doesn’t limit your career. You’ll qualify as a primary school teacher. You can still teach in Key Stage 2 even if you specialise in the 3 to 7 pathway, and vice versa, during your career. This is the decision of your Headteacher rather than a limitation set by your qualification.
We tailor our programme to the pathway you choose. We have training that you only attend if your on the 3-7 pathway and other sessions for those on the 5-11. The bulk of the training sessions, however, cover both pathways. Not all providers personalise their programmes in this way.
Some providers offer an option to qualify as an Early Years teacher. We don’t offer this as its not favoured by our partner schools. We’d encourage you to train as a primary school teacher so you have more career options in the future.
