There can be no substitute for beginning your teaching career than initial teacher training as part of a School Direct partnership. Westerton Partnership, led by Westerton Primary Academy in Leeds, provides great places to train to teach and we believe the partnership of strong academic grounding and highly effective practical contexts is the key to success. The schools within the Partnership are committed to joint collaborative working and have a long history of delivering successful school based teacher training. We can tell you more during our free local briefing events.

The Westerton School Direct Programme is expanding and is a Partnership of primary schools closely affiliated with Exceed SCITT. The schools within the Partnership offer diversity, enabling the trainees to engage in more than one school in the partnership.

The schools within the Partnership all see School Direct as the best way to develop future teachers. They are all committed to their trainees’ progress and you will be chosen by the schools who will invest in you as an integral and important member of their staff team. Staff within the Partnership are our most valuable resource. Teachers are excellent practitioners and are keen to share professional skills, knowledge and practice with teachers of the future.

All trainees who successfully complete the School Direct course with us will be recommended for Qualified Teacher Status and will have the opportunity to gain a PGCE at Masters Level 7. This is an excellent springboard into the profession.

The training places available

Westerton Partnership offer the fee-funded/unsalaried training route. The salaried route is not available via the Leeds Hub. The School Direct Salaried training route is only available via Exceed Partnership at the Bradford Hub. Further fee-funded/unsalaried places are available in Bradford Exceed Partnership and Shanidar School Direct.
