Further information about each NPQ

Full details of each NPQ is available here.

National Professional Qualification (NPQ) Scholarship Funding for the 2019/20 financial year (April 2019 to March 2020) has been confirmed.

DfE has provided funding for schools in Opportunity Areas, such as Bradford, and high priority local authority areas at no cost. Schools accessing this pay the cost of the programme in advance and are them reimbursed by Carnegie Leaders once DfE releases the scholarship funds. However, if demand for funding is high, the DfE may need to implement their prioritisation criteria in relation to the availability of these scholarships. The DfE will be reviewing the financial position regularly and will keep providers updated. At present, scholarships are available to schools with Bradford for programmes that commence before March 2020.

Schools will need to pay the course fees to Carnegie Leaders when registering for a programme but they will be reimbursed once DfE releases the scholarship funding to Carnegie.

A reminder of the prioritisation criteria is set out below:

In the event of over subscription for the scholarship funding the DfE will apply the following criteria:

  1. NPQ course participants working in a school in an Opportunity Area, where the school is also below the Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 4 floor standards;
  2. All other NPQ course participants working in Opportunity Areas;
  3. NPQ course participants working in schools where more than 30% of pupils receive Free School Meals;  and
  4. Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) NPQ course participants.

The DfE reserves the right to withdraw scholarships. If you have any queries about this, please contact Carnegie Leaders.

Apply for 2019-20 NPQs (Induction September/October 2019)

Based on feedback of the 90 NPQ participants training with us in 2018-19, we’ve moved the start date for each programme to September/October 2019. This will help to ensure participants have SATs and teacher assessment data to show impact of their project at the end of the programme.
