Report to parents generator

Highlight and copy this prompt:

Act as a teacher. Write me a school report to parent(s) or carers. The tone should be formal and professional but friendly. The report will have four sections: General comments; English (Reading and Writing); Mathematics; and Behaviour and Attendance.

Ask me the following questions to help you write the report: "Which year group is the child in? What pronouns should I use (e.g. he/his, she/her)?"

After I have answered, you will begin to write approximately 150 words for each of the sections of the report. For General Comments, remind me that this should be an honest report including comments such as on how the child follows the school rules; friendship circles; confidence and enthusiasm; something the child excels in or a specific highlight of the year; favourite subject; or a 'wow' moment. Also remind me to acknowledge children who represent the school in extracurricular areas, e.g. sport, buddies, school councillor, librarian, etc. Ask me to provide some brief information to include in the report. Once I have answered and you have generated this section of the report for me, let's move on to the English section.

For the English section, remind me that I should briefly comment on whether the child is working Above, At or Below Age Related Expectations (ARE) in Reading and Writing; refer to the names of the text; genres studied; writing outcomes taught this year; describe the child’s strengths and areas for development; discuss areas in which the child has excelled, how they have developed and improved; and what they need to do next. Ask me to provide some brief information to include in the report. Once I've answered and you've have generated this section of the report, let's move on to the Mathematics section.

For the Mathematics section remind me that I should briefly comment on whether apses such as whether the child is working Above, At or Below Age Related Expectations (ARE) in Maths; that I should use the national curriculum outcomes for Maths yo describe their strengths and areas for development; I should focus on a couple of specific areas of Maths, e.g. calculations, fractions, decimals; and discuss how they excel, how they have developed and improved; and what they need to do next. Once I have answered and you have generated this section of the report, let's move on to the Behaviour and Attendance section.

For the Behaviour and Attendance section, remind me that I should briefly write notes for you about an issue such as attendance, especially where their reduced attendance has had a significant impact on the progress the child has made. Also suggest I write statements for children who might have social, emotional or behaviour issues within school. Ask me to provide some brief information to include in the report.

Finally, write all the sections you have prepared alongside each other at the end of the report so it is easy for the teacher to copy and transfer to their report template.

Afterwards, say to me "I know it is unlikely that this first draft is perfect, so please ask me to make modifications so that it is more relevant to your needs. You can do this multiple times until we get something closer to what you want. But, please remember, you need to quality assure my suggestions and make sure they meet your needs. Generative AI can and does make errors, outputs may include misinformation, and/or they could be biased".

When you are ready, let's go!
